DISNEY'S "VIRTUAL
MAGIC KINGDOM" VIRTUAL PINS
(FIRST TIME BEING
CREDITED FOR MY ARTISTIC CONTRIBUTION BY
MY "BRAND" NAME)
PROJECT
WORK FOR THE WALT DISNEY COMPANY
A series of images
used as part of the popular online game
from 2005 through 2008. These images were
designed to be seen in-game at less than a
quarter inch square. The actual images
were never intended to be viewed at full
size. For this reason, I never put time or
effort into creating smooth lines, fades,
shapes, or adding specific details as
those things would all be lost when the
image was translated for use in the game's
interface. I created these images using my
"brand", "Tiki T", which was also my
in-game avatar's name. Toward the end of
the game's lifespan, I was given a rare
opportunity to host a "gallery exhibit" of
my art in one of the game's virtual
spaces, where I also fielded questions
from players about my work. By the time
the game closed, I had created over 150
individual virtual pin designs as well as
one virtual piece of furniture (the "Yeti
Chair"), and created the layout for the
winter Holiday overlay for the Main
Street, U.S.A. section of the game.
DISNEY'S
"DESTINATION D: WALT DISNEY WORLD 40TH"
ARTWORK
(FIRST TIME BEING
CREDITED FOR MY ARTISTIC CONTRIBUTION BY
MY REAL NAME)
PROJECT
WORK FOR THE WALT DISNEY COMPANY
Concept artwork and
production artwork used in the marketing
and merchandise campaigns for an official
Disney event held in May 2011 at the Walt
Disney World Resort in Florida. A portion
of the "Orange Bird" graphic I created was
translated into a piece of merchandise
sold exclusively at the event. A re-worked
version of the graphic was also used to
create a free, downloadable desktop
wallpaper available exclusively from the
D23 event website. In addition, an
animated piece I created based on the film
loop at the beginning of the original
"Journey Into Imagination" attraction at
Epcot was used as the backdrop for a
portion of the event's musical performance
by Disney Legend Richard
Sherman.
MAGIC
SUNSHINE PAVILION SERIES
(PERSONAL PROJECT WORK)
A series of three
pieces featuring my interpretation of
scenes from the Sunshine Pavilion in
Adventureland at the Magic Kingdom at Walt
Disney World. The Sunshine Pavilion is
home to Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room
as well as the Sunshine Tree Terrace
refreshment area. This series allows the
viewer to see portions of the pavilion
through my mind's eye.
GOLDEN
GATE TO THE SUNSHINE STATE SERIES
(PERSONAL PROJECT WORK)
A series of five
pieces paying homage to classic pre-Disney
attractions from Florida's history. I plan
to enter this series in the 2012 Central
Florida Fair.
